Getting a better job through an employment agency?

I am currently working at an Employment agency where I am not happy with my current assignment for various and obvious reasons. I have tried calling in a few times and asking what other assignments are available and they always say, Nothing. I have a hunch that they are holding out on me. What is a good way around this obstacle?

The company I am working for is a prominent one and they have a long contract with them. Additionally, it is a dead end job.
